Mortal Kombat Trilogy is a definitive fighting game compilation that brings together the brutal action and iconic characters from the first three games in the legendary Mortal Kombat series. Released for PlayStation, it serves as a massive celebration of the franchise, combining the rosters, stages, and fatalities from Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Mortal Kombat 3 (including the Ultimate MK3 update). It's known for its expansive character selection, over-the-top violence, and fast-paced combat, offering a comprehensive experience for fans of the series.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy packs a punch with a huge array of features: • Massive Roster: Play as over 30 fighters, including all characters from MK, MKII, and MK3/U MK3, plus secret characters like Noob Saibot and classic bosses. • Iconic Fatalities & Brutalities: Perform each character's signature gruesome finishing moves, including the fan-favorite Fatalities, the rapid-fire Brutalities, and other special finishers like Animalities and Friendships. • Classic Arenas: Battle across memorable stages from all three games, each with their own unique atmosphere and stage-specific Fatalities. • Multiple Game Modes: Test your skills in Arcade, Versus (2-player), Tournament, and Endurance modes. • Aggressive Gameplay: Experience the fast, combo-heavy fighting style that defined Mortal Kombat 3, with Run moves and enhanced special attacks. • PlayStation Enhancements: Enjoy improved visuals and audio compared to earlier versions, optimized for the PlayStation console.
Mastering Mortal Kombat Trilogy requires learning its controls and mechanics:
What are Fatalities and how do I do them? Fatalities are gruesome finishing moves performed on a defeated opponent after winning the final round when the "Finish Him/Her" message appears. Each character has specific Fatality commands (sequences of directional inputs and button presses) that must be executed at the correct distance. Finding them is part of the challenge!
Is there a difference between the characters from different games? Yes! Characters retain their unique special moves, Fatalities, and sometimes even their fighting style animations as they appeared in their original game (MK, MKII, or MK3). This means Liu Kang from MK1 fights differently and has different moves than Liu Kang from MK3.
What are Brutalities? Brutalities are a type of finishing move introduced in MK3. Unlike Fatalities performed after winning, Brutalities are executed during the final round by inputting a complex button sequence. If successful, your character unleashes a rapid, unstoppable combo sequence that violently finishes the opponent before the round officially ends.
